Lift off with Love

We want to thank all of our members who donated to our Lift off with Love drive. All the items collected will help so many kids aging out of foster care transition into college with one less thing to worry about. Going to college can be scary, and we pray that these small items can be a huge blessing in their lives. Please continue to be in prayer for these children as they transition into a new phase of life and for God to give them peace in time of full of unknowns.

Each student was able to take away something different and we believe this was truly a life-changing event for some of them. Thank you to all the leaders who were able to attend, scholarship donors, and everyone who prayed for the trip. Please continue to be in prayer for all of our students as they prepare to go back to school and that they can continue to grow in their relationships with the Lord.

FC Students is hosting their monthly Student Night for students in 6th-12th grade Saturday, April 13th from 6:00-9:00pm. This month we will be doing the “B Games” with all of our students. We will eat dinner, worship, have a lesson, and then end the night with the “B Games” at the Malcolm Yonge Gym a few blocks from church. We will be back at the church in time for pickup at 9:00pm. Please come prepared to be running around!

Easter: April 21st

This year we will be celebrating Easter at our normal service times, 9:00am and 11:00am on April 21st. This Sunday, we will be handing our invitation cards in stacks of 20. We want to challenge each of you take a stack and hand out each card to someone who may not know Jesus. We want to have a packed house this Easter! Please save the date, be in prayer, and plan on joining us for our Easter sermon series, “Alive” starting April 7th.

Grad Sunday: April 28th

Grad Sunday is right around the corner, on April 28th. We will be celebrating each of our graduating seniors during each of our services that day.  Afterwards, please stop by the 3rd floor to congratulate them, leave a note of encouragement or a gift, and celebrate their success with them. If you have a student graduating this year, you will receive a letter from First City in the mail containing more details for your family. If you have any questions about Grad Sunday, please contact Savannah Cox at scox@firstcitychurch.org.

SERVE Day: May 4th

On Sunday, April 28th we will be welcoming John McCollum, executive director of Asia’s Hope, as our special guest speaker. We’re excited to hear about how God is using their ministry to rescue and redeem the children in their care. There will also be an opportunity on that day for you to explore each organization we will be working with this SERVE Day. More information about our guest speaker and SERVE Day sign-ups will be coming soon.

Baptisms

This year at our Easter service, we will be celebrating the resurrection with baptisms. Baptism declares to the world you’ve trusted Jesus, joined God’s family, and made a commitment to follow Jesus. It’s pretty special! If you have never been baptized after salvation, baptism is your first step! If you would like to be baptized this Easter use the button below to sign up now.

Lift Updates

Lift has officially kicked off and we want to keep you updated on how your efforts are making an impact on the foster families here at church. Here are a few wins to celebrate so far:
  • We started with 5 foster families and now have 9 foster families here at First City.
  • Lift started with a team of 6 people and now has over 70 volunteers signed up to serve.
  • We have had over $15,000 given to Lift since January.
  • We are examining a partnership with Foster Florida, which is a state-wide organization working with foster families.
